Even now, some people still believe that videogames are not a mature art form, that video games can't tell deep stories. And if he means it by the storytelling, then he was very on point. Game Director Shuji Ishikawa intended to make an interactive horror movie, but not in the sense we now know interactive horror movies. It's a very dark, violent, horrifying experience, and that's exactly what they were looking for. This title is tough to recommend, not because it isn't good, but because it certainly isn't for everybody.

This sets the stage for a creepy, atmospheric experience which is part survival horror and part adventure set within the confines of a story that would perplex. This game ends up falling in the Survival/Psychological Horror category, one in which the PS2 excels. Set in the 1930s Jennifer is sent to the Rose Garden Orphanage by bus, Jennifer befriends a small boy along the journey who disappears into the night once they reach their destination. A very mature (in any way possible) title that's intended for very mature audiences. But we'll say no more of the plot since it would be pretty hard to understand without actually talking it thoroughly.įull of surrealism and twisted metaphors, the plot of the game develops interestingly and excellently.

Death of Rose is not the only title Laczkowski is involved with, as the Bloober Team developer is also working on horror game The Medium for PC and Xbox One. He continued his tweet to thank not only IGN but Feardemic, the publishing branch of Bloober Team, for the opportunity to show the game off. The developer said he is "shocked" that Death of Rose was one of the most watched games at Gamescom 2020. The gameplay reveal has been a big success according to Laczkowski who tweeted about the trailer's views.
